Darwin Nunez has returned to the Liverpool starting eleven after he was a major injury and the Reds fans have made their excitement known on Twitter.
The Uruguay international suffered a shoulder injury during the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Newcastle, where he scored the opener with a clinical finish. Many feared that he would be out of contention for tonight’s huge Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
This was the forward’s sixth goal of the season, after he signed for the Reds back in summer last year. The recent signing of Cody Gakpo, who also scored against Newcastle, has made competition for places in the Liverpool squad, as Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz return from injury.
Many fans were excited by Nunez’s inclusion in the starting XI and took to twitter to show their joy. With supporters hoping he can turn the tie in their favour.

Los Blancos travel to Anfield with an injury-ridden squad, as the likes of Toni Kroos and Aurelien Tchouameni being absent. However, their leading goalscorer and current Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema, is in the squad following a slight injury scare.
Jurgen Klopp will be looking for revenge against the current Champions League holders, after Los Blancos beat Liverpool 1-0 in last year’s historic final. The German has admitted that re-watching the match for the first time felt like ‘torture’.
