Liverpool are reportedly progressing in a deal to sign RB Leipzig star, Dominik Szoboszlai, as the 22-year-old is set to leave this summer.

The Reds are entering negotiation stages with the Bundesliga side, as members from the Liverpool camp reportedly met with the Hungarian international.

Szoboszlai caught they eye during the 2022-23 season, scoring 10 and assisting 13 goals in 43 appearances for the German giants.

The Hungary international was key in Leipzig’s final league fixtures, scoring in two of the club’s final three matches. Including a key goal as they scraped by Werder Bremen, to qualify for the UCL once again.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe and according to David Ornstein, a move to Anfield is starting to progress.

Liverpool have acted swiftly in the summer transfer window, as the 2019 Champions League winners signed Brighton star, Alexis Mac Allister, for just £35m.

Strengthening the midfield appears to be the priority for Liverpool, with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Nicolo Barella and Federico Valverde all being linked with a move to Anfield.

A final fee is yet to be agreed and it may take up to £70m to coax him from Leipzig, as his current deal is set to expire in 2025.

After failing to qualify for the UCL there was doubt over Liverpool’s activity this summer, however landing the Hungarian midfielder would be a huge sign of intent.

Klopp’s side will have to be astute in negotiations, as after becoming a household name in the Bundesliga, Szboszlai has reportedly attracted interest from Newcastle.
