Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo, as the Reds look to hijack Chelsea’s deal with the Ecuadorian.

The Reds are keen on adding yet another midfield addition to their squad, after signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szobozlai.

This need for midfield signings has increased as Fabinho and Jordan Henderson look set to leave the club this summer, after receiving bids from Saudi Arabia.

A move for Caicedo may prove difficult as the Ecuadorian international is reportedly in talks with Chelsea, however, the Reds are eager to hijack the move.

Negotiations with Chelsea have stalled over the past few weeks, with Brighton reportedly asking for £100m in exchange for their star man.

Since signing for the Seagulls in 2019, the 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League. Being a pivotal part of Brighton’s squad under both Graham Potter, and Roberto De Zerbi.

Making 43 appearances in all competitions, the 21-year-old has continued his superb performances this season. His consistency has helped Brighton reach the FA Cup semi final for the first time in over 30 years.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal had shown interest in Caicedo, as the Gunners looked set to sign the youngster in January before talks broke down.

The Brighton midfielder even took to  social media to push for a move, however both parties failed to agree a fee and he stayed at the Amex.

The Brighton star wrote: “I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart,”

With the Gunners signing Declan Rice, they are unlikely to continue their pursuit and Liverpool may take full advantage in their attempt to ‘hijack’ Chelsea’s deal.

Caicedo has four-years remaining on his current Brighton contract and could cost a record transfer fee, something that could cause difficulty in negotiations.
