This month could be one of the chilliest in Merseyside’s history, as Liverpool’s coldest weather on record betting odds show.
Liverpool has suffered a very harsh January this year. After weeks of icy conditions and frosty weather, Liverpudlians have been wrapped up warm all month.
Average temperatures in Liverpool sit around 5°C in January but do get much lower. Since records began, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Liverpool is −17.6 °C, on 21 December 2010.
But for the rest of January, the forecast is far warmer. Scousers will see highs of 12°C on Thursday 25 January, with a low of 3°C overnight on Friday 26.
Still, with such low temperatures earlier this month, records could yet be broken.
As a result, we at SportsLens have looked at the latest betting odds for Liverpool’s coldest weather on record.
Liverpool Coldest Weather On Record Betting Odds
Coldest January since records began: 7/2
Coldest Year since records began: 11/1
The lowest recorded temperature in Liverpool this month was -5°C, which occurred overnight on 18 January.
At 7/2, the latest cold weather betting odds show there’s still a decent possibility of January 2024 being Liverpool’s coldest January since records began.
It’s less likely, though, that we will see this year be Liverpool’s coldest ever overall. Global temperatures are on the rise on average, meaning cold weather records get broken less often in the UK these days.
But that doesn’t mean it never happens. At 11/1, it’s not beyond plausible that Liverpool could record its coldest year yet in 2024. For those who have been shivering all month, it certainly wouldn’t seem unlikely.
The Met Office predicts Liverpool temperatures won’t be quite as cold at the end of January, though. Their forecast shows a mild but damp outlook, with overcast weather and intermittent showers in the coming days.
February looks little nicer, either. Rain is forecast for the majority of days from now until 6 February, which is as far as the forecast shows.
