Lionel Messi will join MLS side Inter Miami after the expiration of his contract at PSG and reject a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal.

According to Guillem Balague, Messi will reject the Saudi Arabian club’s offer and join Inter Miami. The deal includes collaboration with companies like Adidas and Apple.

The 35-year-old has opted to leave PSG, winning two consecutive Ligue 1 titles with the Parisiens but fell short in the Champions League in disappointing fashion.

After winning the World Cup with Argentina in December, Messi is still at the top of his game and is in line for an eighth Ballon d’Or later this year.

Following much deliberation and speculation, his decision has been made and Lionel Messi will take his talents to South Beach.

Messi’s main preference was to remain in Europe for another season to challenge for a fifth Champions League triumph – that would equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally.

The Argentine forward turned down one of the biggest contracts in sporting history from Al-Hilal. The Saudi league has been successful in recruiting other stars such as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

He was ultimately drawn to Inter Miami and the MLS for various reasons including lifestyle, he already owns a house in the city.

Financial Fair Play limitations are said to have been the biggest stumbling block in the way of a fairytale return to Barcelona.

Staying at PSG was never a viable option for the player, who was suspended for two weeks in May after making an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.
