Relegation appears to have cost Leicester City dearly as a host of notable starters look for an exit this summer. Belgian full-back Timothy Castagne is the latest to be linked with a move away after Arsenal reportedly opened talks this weekend.
After pushing newly-crowned treble winners Manchester City all the way in the Premier League, Arsenal appear to be moving with haste as the transfer window opens on Wednesday.
They have made no secret of their desire for Declan Rice, who remains their top priority and negotiations are expected to advance to a critical point by the end of the week.
Elsewhere, strength in depth will be key to their chances of success next season, particularly with the added strain of Champions League football.
The club have identified several positions that would benefit from fresh additions, and a slew of defensive injuries towards the back end of this season highlighted an alarming lack of options.
As a result, several names have been rumoured to be on their shortlist including Real Valladolid sensation Ivan Fresneda, Southampton’s Tino Livramento and even Manchester City maestro Joao Cancelo.

However, the latest name to be thrown into the hat is Leicester’s Timothy Castagne, as reported by Goal. Although perhaps not the statement signing Gunners fans were hoping for, the 27-year-old has proven to be a loyal servant for the Foxes, featuring in 37 of their 38 games this season while adding two goals and three assists, predominantly from a right-back role.
Mikel Arteta, working in tandem with sporting director Edu, have overseen a string of successful signings even in the face of criticism from the fanbase.
Identifying Castagne as a worthy back up could prove to be a shrewd addition given his wealth of Premier League experience, and it may well free up the budget to use further down the line with the Foxes full-back rated at just £20m.
