Andy Newton’s ‘LAY OF THE DAY’ Horse Racing Tip On Sunday: 12:40pm Leopardstown – FOXY GIRL
The first race on the final day of the Dublin Racing Festival sees 20 runners heading to post, so the first plus here is we’ll have a massive 19 horses on our side.
FOXY GIRL is likely to be one of the more fancied runners, but this Henry De Bromhead runner seems to have a bit to answer.
She’s won once from her six tries over hurdles, but that came in a maiden hurdle at Limerick over a year ago and was also a beaten jolly last time out at Fairyhouse. Yes, that day she got hampered by another horse, but still looked to have a lot to do there, was eventually 9th (of 19).
Off the same mark today and the slight step up in trip on that run will probably suit. However, this also looks a more competitive race. It will also be Foxy Girl’s first try and Leopardstown, so a slight unknown on that score.
However, the bigger worry is the form of the De Bromhead camp. They’ve only had 2 winners from their last 26 (at the time of writing), while their SR with their hurdlers at Leopardstown is just 7% (9 from 128).
With their overall track stats standing at only 16 winners from their last 233 sent to post (7%). Hardly inspiring.
All things considered, Foxy Girl, despite looking an unlucky last time and that the longer trip will suit, is taken on here.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1). Then you could lay this horse for £10.
If the horse loses, you will win £10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out £20 (just like a bookmaker would).
See below another example – if you were to oppose Galopin Des Champs at 2.80 for £10.
You can see the liability if the horse wins would be £18. Or if the horse loses you will win £10 (less any commission).
