The future of Kylian Mbappe has been a big talking point for a couple of years now but this summer might finally be the year he leaves his boyhood club PSG.
Is Mbappe set for Real Madrid?
Mbappe has just six months left in his PSG contract which means he is allowed to start speaking to other clubs, as he prepares for a free transfer in the summer.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with 25-year-old and it’s understood that Mbappe is fond of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
But with recent reports from Footmercato and Aouana, Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid; 18 months after rejecting them.
Mbappe was given an offer he couldn’t refuse to stay at PSG in 2022. He was made top of Forbes’ list of the World’s Highest-Paid Soccer Players. PSG agreed to pay £215m over a three-year period to Mbappe.
What offer were PSG willing to give Mbappe?
Mbappe has turned down a £69m bonus reward he’d receive if he stayed at PSG. Instead, he’s willing to take a major pay cut to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are refusing to go over their wage budget for Mbappe but it’s understood that winning the Champions League is at the top of Mbappe’s priorities and where better to go than 14-time winners Real Madrid.
When will Mbappe announce his decision?
Although nothing has officially been announced yet, Mbappe made a statement in regards to his future. He said: “It’s very important. As I said, we’ve got titles to go after and we’ve already taken one. After that, I haven’t made up my mind yet. I haven’t made a choice.
“With the agreement I made with the President last summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’s serenity for the challenges ahead, which remains the most important thing. So let’s say it’s secondary.”
There was so much speculation over Mbappe’s future at the weekend, including a story that he had rejected Real Madrid’s offer and the stories won’t stop until Mbappe is seen wearing another team’s shirt in July.
