Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t been assisting on the field this season because of an injury, but it looked like he had produced the ultimate assist. De Bruyne’s name appeared on the credits of a new Drake song, but the De Bruyne and Drake dream is over.

Drake, one of the world’s biggest superstars, dropped new music this morning with one thing catching the eye.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted that for the song “Wick Man” the Manchester City star had been named as a co-writer. ‘K. De Bruyne’ was listed in the song credits for the Canadian’s new song. This sent shockwaves around the football and music world, with some saying it’s the Belgians best ever assist.

De Bruyne and Drake combining would see two worlds clashing and meeting in the most unexpected of places.

With the world of social media imagining De Bruyne and Drake in the studio, the Premier League midfielder broke their hearts.

De Bruyne posted on his social media saying:

“Drake needed an assist,

“All jokes aside, it’s not me! Huge fan though!”

It’s a shame to find out that De Bruyne hasn’t been spending his time away from the field in the studio.

When will De Bruyne be back?

With the De Bruyne and Drake mystery cleared up, Manchester City fans will be keen to see their star back.

De Bruyne is currently recovering after surgery on a hamstring injury he suffered on the opening day of the Premier League season in August.

The Belgian looks set to return around the New Year, but Pep Guardiola told the media he wouldn’t rush him back. Pep said:

“I spoke with him two days ago and he said he feels really good but… recover.

“With these kind of injuries, it’s better not to put pressure.

“When he feels good and the doctors are confident, we can take the next step. You don’t want to go too early and have to go back again. A tough injury, surgery, so step by step.”

It’s hard to imagine Pep being happy if the De Bruyne and Drake story ended up being true.
