Willie Mullins has a top record in this race – winning 6 of the last 7, but Kevin Blake feels the Henry De Bromhead runner – Life In The Park, with Rachael Blackmore riding can upset the Mullins applecart. This 6 year-old was a fair hurdler and made a winning switch to fences last September at Listowel. He flopped at Cheltenham next time in October but returned last month to run a fine third at Limerick and that should put him spot-on for this.
Blake feels the better ground will suit and this race has looked a target all season.
Kevin Blake told his Betfair followers – “Life In The Park hasn’t been given a tough time by his opening mark of 138 and that appeals as being attractive. Having shown a tendency to jump a bit to his right, this right-handed track will play to his strengths. It is also worth noting that his best performance over hurdles came when he met a sounder surface at this meeting last year. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Henry De Bromhead has had this race in mind for him and a big run can be expected under Rachael Blackmore.”

Fell – when bumped in the air – in the Mares’ Chase last time out at the Cheltenham Festival but was going well at the time and Kevin Blake feels the horse is the value e/w call over the two hot-pots Impervious and Allegorie De Vassey. She showed a good level of form last season in top company and looks over-priced according to Blake. This Gordon Elliott 6 year-old can also often jump right, but that will be okay around Punchestown and is also a course winner at the track.
Blake told his Betfair readers – “All was going smoothly and she was making stealthy headway travelling as well as anything only to be bumped mid-air at the third-last fence and fall. Based on the betting for this race, that run seemed to have slipped under the radar of many. There is also reason to believe that she will be even better here, as she has a notable tendency to jump to her right and will be better suited by a return to a right-handed track. She looks to have a much better chance than her odds suggest and she makes plenty of appeal”
