Kanye West Goes Viral For Portsmouth Shirt

Kanye West is no stranger to making headlines in the news and on Friday morning the rapper was yet again turning heads, as he posted a picture of him wearing a retro football kit.

The kit in question was a 1996/97 Portsmouth goalkeeper shirt, which was worn just once by Pompey shot-stopper Alan Knight in an FA Cup clash against Chelsea.

The then second tier side were knocked out at the quarter final stage of the FA Cup in a 4-1 loss to Chelsea, who went on to win the competition.

Portsmouth themselves were quick to react to the bizarre situation on Twitter, posting a picture of West in their rare goalkeeper kit with the caption “Up Ye Blues.”

Fans have been left scratching their heads at where the Yeezy creator managed to obtain the jersey, which was only used once in history and is one of the rarest kits to find.

This is not the first time West has been spotted wearing a vintage football kit, as he showed off a red and grey Manchester United shirt earlier this year which was also from the nineties.

The controversial American rapper wore the United shirt late in October, while he was in attendance of the Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou heavyweight boxing bout in Saudi Arabia.

Demand for the kit will no doubt rise after West was spotted in the Pompey shirt, but with just two photos of the top circulating on the internet, it could be almost impossible for anyone to find a replica.

West baffling football fans with his outfit could all be part of the promotion campaign for his next album ‘Vultures’, which he said he would release earlier this month but never did.
