Jurgen Klopp has revealed his stance on Liverpool’s chances of signing Jude Bellingham, comparing the Englishman to a ‘Ferrari you can’t afford’.

The Jude Bellingham transfer saga has taken the footballing world by storm, with multiple clubs in the race to land his signature. However, the Reds had been favourites to sign the teenager, until recent reports saying that the club ‘ could not afford the ‘huge’ transfer fee.

The 19-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s hottest prospects and is now a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

In a recent presser, Jurgen Klopp revealed his stance on the rumours surrounding the Dortmund midfielder and revealed his lack of optimism in bringing Bellingham to Anfield.

The German manager said: “I don’t know why we talk about things we theoretically can’t have. If a child says he wants a Ferrari for Christmas, you say we can’t afford it and you can’t drive! What we need and what we want, we try absolutely everything to go and get it”.

Should the Reds not be successful in their pursuit, then they have been rumoured with a variety of alternative options. Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister has been linked with a move to Anfield after impressing with the Seagulls this season.

Supporters will be hoping for multiple additions over the summer due to the Reds’ poor performance in this campaign. The club sit eighth in the Premier League and are set to miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time in over five years.

With the likes of Roberto Firmino, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, and Naby Keita set to leave the club in the summer, there will be room for additions. However, Liverpool will need to spend over £100m to sign the teenage sensation.
