Rumours of a return to Chelsea have increased after Jose Mourinho was sent off during Roma’s 2-0 defeat to bottom placed US Cremonese.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea manager took over Serie A side Roma back in May 2021 and won the Europa Conference League in his first season at the club. Finishing sixth and qualifying for the Europa League alongside this topped off a relatively successful season.
This year has been more of the same for the Italian side, as they sit fifth in the Serie A and are only three points off Inter Milan in second. They’re still battling on the European stage too, after they beat Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League round of 16 qualification, where they will now face Real Sociedad.
However, today’s away defeat against Cremonese has put some pressure on the 60-year-old as the hosts had not won a league game this campaign. Things escalated even further after the Roma manager was sent off at the start of the second-half.

Rumours of Mourinho leaving Rome have circulated over recent weeks, not due to his teams performances but because of links to one of his former sides, Chelsea. Graham Potter’s poor start in London has caused many to question how long his time will last and the Portuguese coach has been reported as a possible replacement.
