Chelsea are rumoured to be considering their 04/05 boss and current Roma manager Jose Mourinho, as a possible replacement for the out-of-favour Graham Potter.

The Portuguese coach first managed the Blues back in 2004 before joining Inter in 2007,  he won the Premier League in his first season in London- conceding a record 15 goals. He then returned to Chelsea from 2013-2015, where he won the league yet again.

Since then Mourinho has managed a variety of clubs, including two of Chelsea’s biggest rivals, Man United and Spurs. He is now in charge of Serie A giants Roma, who sit in third place in Serie A but are 18 points behind the league’s high-flyers, Napoli.

The rumours are in the very early stages as Todd Boehly has reiterated his support for Graham Potter and Mourinho has the backing from the Rome-based side. There are other candidates for the Chelsea job, with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane being heavily linked.

Chelsea are in desperate need of some hope this season, as they sit 1oth in the Premier League and are without a win in three. The recent signings of Enzo Fernandez amongst others, has seen the Blues spend north of £5oom and supporters are growing tired of recent events.

Mourinho may not be the answer to these problems, but the manager would definitely bring some fireworks back to the Premier League. As Graham Potter’s time is surely running out, it may be time for their most successful manager to return.
