Jorge Messi, the father of Lionel Messi, has said that his son ‘wants to return to Barcelona’, following a meeting with Blaugrana president Joan Laporta.

Lionel Messi’s father Jorge Messi has revealed to the media that his son wants to return to Barcelona following his Paris Saint-Germain exit.

PSG confirmed on Saturday that Messi would depart the club upon the expiry of his contract, having spent the past two seasons in the French capital.

His exit has been well speculated across several months, with Barcelona being tipped as his most likely destination.

There have also been links to Saudi Arabia and the MLS, but now Messi’s father has confirmed the Argentine’s ambition to return to his beloved La Liga side.

Jorge was spotted meeting Barcelona president Joan Laporta to discuss his son’s return.

This comes following the La Liga approving Barcelona’s plan for Messi to return to the Camp Nou.
