Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has reportedly agreed in principal to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq with the deal now depending on both clubs agreeing a fee.
Jordan Henderson is close to ending his 12 year stay with Liverpool after agreeing in principal to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
Al-Ettifaq recently appointed Henderson’s former teammate Steven Gerrard as head coach, with the ex-Villa boss keen to lure his former midfield partner to the Middle East.
And after being heavily linked for the best part of a week, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the 33-year-old has accepted the ‘life changing’ proposal laid out by the Saudi side.
Romano revealed the latest on the move on his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.
“Jordan Henderson has accepted Al Ettifaq proposal. There’s verbal agreement in principle. Contract agreed.” he tweeted.
“Deal now depends on Liverpool and Al Ettifaq discussing on the fee, no chance to let him leave for free.
“Hendo spoke to [Jurgen] Klopp today and there’s green light.”

Henderson doesn’t seem to be the only Reds midfielder nearing a Saudi switch either.
Brazilian defensive midfielder Fabinho is reportedly attracting interest from Al-Ittihad, with the club plotting a £40million move for the 29-year-old.
This comes as Jurgen Klopp looks to completely reinvigorate his midfield ahead of the new Premier League campaign, having already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Reds have also been linked with the likes of Romeo Lavia, Gabri Veiga, Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram as they look to provide even further midfield depth in the squad.
