Nottingham Forest loanee Jonjo Shelvey scored an incredible goal from his own half for Turkish Super Lig side Caykur Rizespor.

Shelvey joined Caykur Rizespor on loan late in the summer, following a disappointing spell at Forest.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool midfielder wasn’t given a squad number ahead of the Premier League season, amid a speculated fallout with manager Steve Cooper. He was at the City Ground for just six months.

On Sunday, he scored his first goal for Rizespor after eight appearances. Spotting the goalkeeper off his line, Shelvey scored all the way from his own half, akin to Harry Kane’s effort for Bayern Munich in October.

The goal was scored in the fifth minute and ended up serving as the winner, earning Rizespor all three points. Shelvey’s side now sit 10th in the Turkish Super Lig.

The 31-year-old, who has six England caps to his name, is due to return to Nottingham Forest in the summer.
