Joel Matip scored an own goal in the 96th minute to hand Spurs a dramatic 2-1 victory against nine-man Liverpool to continue Ange Postecoglou’s dream start to life in north London.
Curtis Jones saw red after 26 minutes in a controversial decision from VAR following his tackle on Yves Bissouma, leaving the visitors with ten men and changing the dynamic of the game entirely.
Shortly after, Heung-min Son opened the scoring in a brilliantly worked move from the hosts. Richarlison was played through thanks to an exquisite ball from James Maddison, before squaring to the Korean for a tap-in.
Cody Gakpo stole an equaliser for Liverpool in the depths of first-half stoppage time, injuring himself in the process and forcing a substitution for Diogo Jota at the interval.
Jota was sent off in the 69th minute after two straight yellows which left Jurgen Klopp’s side with just nine men on the field and a steep uphill battle to leave the capital with a point.
When the job was almost complete, Matip turned the ball into his own net from Pedro Porro’s cross to undo a resilient and hard-fought display from the travelling side with just seconds until the final whistle.

According to Premier League betting sites, Liverpool have now moved to third-favourites to win the title this season at a price of 11/2 – behind Manchester City (4/7) and Arsenal (9/2).
The Reds fell to their first domestic defeat of the season in agonising fashion whilst Spurs continued their unbeaten start to the campaign, now sitting in second place.
Postecoglou is leading a cultural revolution at the club and Harry Kane’s absence looks to be having no bearing at all. What a time to be alive for the north Londoners.
