Ahead of the highly anticipated Joshua vs Franklin heavyweight dust-up this Saturday night, we decided to take a deep dive into the boxing career of the underdog Jermaine Franklin. Read on to find out more about his professional boxing record, previous fights and how many knockouts he has under his belt.
Jermaine Franklin Boxing Record
Jermaine Franklin aims to get back to winning ways this weekend as he faces British boxing superstar Anthony Joshua. Franklin was last in action back in November 2022, where he lost an extremely close fight to Joshua’s former foe and British heavyweight rival, Dillian Whyte.
Now, ‘989 Assassin’ returns and is looking to get back to winning ways as a huge underdog this weekend. The 29-year-old will be looking to defy the odds and claim a huge upset victory against the two-time heavyweight champion of the world.
Franklin came over to the UK to fight for the first time last year, where he narrowly lost a majority decision to ‘The Body Snatcher’. Prior to that, he had won all 21 of his professional fights. This weekend, he attempts to win for the 22nd time as a pro in his biggest test to date.
Going into this fight, Jermaine Franklin boasts an impressive boxing record of 21 wins to just one loss. Of these 21 wins, Franklin has won 14 of them by knockout. He is still a relatively unknown heavyweight, but had a decent resumé so far.

Jermaine Franklin’s first 21 fights all took place in the United States. Until his last fight, Franklin had never fought in a 12 round contest. He has however gone 10 rounds on four occasions.
His first real test at heavyweight came back in April 2019 when he beat Rydell Booker in Atlantic City in a closely fought contest. In the end, Franklin won a unanimous decision and made the fight a lot easier than it was meant to be on paper.
Next, ‘989 Assassin’ fought Jerry Forrest in a fight that was extremely close. In the end, Franklin won a split decision. Next up was another known name of the heavyweight division, when he beat Pavel Sour, again by unanimous decision.
Those three names are the biggest names on Franklin’s resumé to date. He had one more fight before the Whyte fight, which proved to be the American’s toughest fight. In the end, Dillian Whyte handed the 29-year-old his first defeat as a professional boxer.
However, it was anything but routine for the British heavyweight who won a majority decision. A lot of people thought Franklin did enough to win the fight, but ultimately he wasn’t awarded the decision.
