Jaylen Brown has signed the richest deal in NBA history, agreeing a $304m (£236.8m) contract to remain at the Boston Celtics. The new deal will keep Jaylen Brown in Boston for another five years.
The deal makes him the highest paid player in the NBA. Jaylen Brown, who was the third pick in the NBA draft in 2016, will earn £22m next season before his extension begins in 2024. He’ll then average £47.1m per year.

Jaylen Brown’s new contract means he surpasses two-time MVP Nikola Jokic as the highest paid player in the NBA.
Jaylen Brown, a two-time All-Star, averaged a career best 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists during 2022-23 as Boston reached the Eastern Conference finals.
Boston Celtic teammate Jayson Tatum is eligible for his own supermax extension next summer. This allows a team to re-sign qualified players on deals worth up to 35% of the salary cap, to maximum five-year contracts.
Jaylen Brown will be hoping to repay the Celtic’s decision to give him this big deal by helping them win the NBA Championship next season.
