Antonio Conte’s Spurs side are reportedly interested in signing Southampton star James Ward-Prowse, with the Saints valuing the midfielder at £5om.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been tipped for a move elsewhere over the last few transfer windows due to his consistent performances for Southampton. He has made 395 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 52 and assisting 51 in all competitions.
This season has been a difficult one for the side from St. Mary’s, as they sit bottom of the Premier League with 18 points from 24 matches. The appointment of Nathan Jones from Luton Town at the start of the season did not go to plan and the Brit was sacked after just four months in charge.
One glimmer of hope for Saints fans has been the performances and commitment of their captain, who has gained interest from a host of clubs. Mainly through his persistent work-rate and being one of the most lethal free kick takers in Europe.

One of the interested parties is Spurs and they have reportedly made that interest clear, with Newcastle also looking to sign the England international.
Tottenham’s season has been far from impressive, losing their last match to Championship side, Sheffield United in the FA Cup round of 16. Rodrigo Bentancur’s long-term injury has hit Spurs tremendously and supporters are hoping for midfield reinforcements in the Summer window.
Should Daniel Levy look to sign the Southampton ace then according to reports, he may have to spend £5om to finalise the deal. Newcastle’s recent takeover means that they can battle any top six club financially and given Spurs’ lack of transfer activity, we could be in for a close battle.
