Pundit and ex-Manchester United captain Gary Neville has given his opinion on players leaking information to the media following reports of Manchester United players underminding Erik ten Hag this week.

Manchester Unitd Media Leaks

Following a dismal 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at the weekend in which the Manchester United players looked forlorn, stories began to emerge in the media undermining head coach Erik ten Hag.

We’ve seen this shtick before with every Manchester United manager post-Ferguson. Reports of the Dutch coach being “too demanding” and one source telling Sky Sports that he had “lost 50% of the dressing room”, it looked as if ten Hag’s days at Manchester United were numbered.

As a result Manchester United took the decision to ban a number of media outlets from ten Hag’s pre-match press conference prior to the Chelsea game.

On the ban a Manchester United spokesperson said: We’re taking action against a number of news organisations today, not for publishing stories we don’t like, but for doing so without contacting us first to give us the opportunity to comment, challenge or contextualise. We believe this is an important principle to defend and we hope it can lead to a re-set in the way we work together.”

What Did Gary Neville Say About Players Leaking Information To The Media?

In response to the reports of dressing room leaks at Manchester United, Gary Neville has had his say on players speaking to the media to undermine their manager.

Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast with fellow hosts Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Roy Keane, Neville said: “The biggest betrayal is when players or players representatives are going to the media to undermind the manager.

“Honestly, that is f****** unforgivable.”

Despite the negative reports, Manchester United appeared a united front, pardon the pun, in last night’s vital 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea after a brace from Scott McTominay.
