Inter Milan are reportedly preparing a £15m bid for Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, who has been rumoured with a summer exit.

The Serie A giants are keen to replace Andre Onana this summer, after his huge move to Manchester United last week and have reportedly made the Argentinian shot-stopper their main target.

The Nerazzurri had gone into the 2022-23 season as one of favourites to win the Serie A title, however Simone Inzaghi was unable to clinch the title and his side finished third.

In the Champions League, on the other hand, Inter were drawn into a “group of death” with European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich. However, they dealt with all issues out in front of them and were narrowly defeated in the UCL final.

Triumphs in both the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia add a further gloss to Inter’s season and now supporters will be looking forward to the summer transfer window.

A move for the Aston Villa goalkeeper may come as a surprise to Premier League supporters, especially for the reported £15m fee, as Martinez was key in Villa’s terrific end to the 2022-23 campaign.

Unai Emery turned things around at Villa Park after Steven Gerrard was sacked due to a run of poor results. The former Arsenal manager guided the club to European football for the first time in 13 years.

Martinez was key in Villa’s form, making 36 league appearances and keeping an impressive 13 clean sheets – helping Villa finish seventh.

Competing in Europe has made summer additions a necessity and Emery’s side have already agreed a host of summer signings as, Pau Torres, Youri Tieleman and Moussa Diaby.

The 30-year-old has four years remaining on his current deal at Villa Park, meaning any move for his services is set cost far more than £15m – with £30-40m being more likely.
