Indonesia 2023 AFC Asian Cup Preview

Indonesia are the second-lowest ranked of all the nations in the Asian Cup this year and many have tipped them to struggle to qualify.

Indonesia missed out on the 2019 tournament because of a FIFA suspension and despite the enthusiasm for the game back home, recent results suggest a third win in its fifth Asian Cup campaign might be the best it can hope for

Shin Tae-Young’s side have failed to win in their last five matches, but did clinch a 12-0 aggregate victory over Brunei in the World Cup qualifiers.

Dimas Drajad scored a hat-trick in the opening clash against Brunei in October and the 26-year-old has been selected once again.

Player To Watch

Ahead of the competition, we have picked a star player for the teams entering the Asian Cup and Indonesia star, Ramadhan Sananta.

The 21-year-old has scored seven goals in 18 appearances for Persis Solo this season and has notched four goals in seven appearances for his nation.

This includes three goals in Indonesia’s World Cup qualification victories over Brunei and the youngster is expected to feature in the starting eleven.
