Indian Wells 2023 is in full swing as the tour’s unofficial ‘fifth major’ bares witness to some of the inevitable clashes we are likely to see in the Grand Slams later this year. With the men’s quarter-finals slated for today in California, we are taking a look at the latest Indian Wells winner odds ahead of some intriguing match-ups.
Indian Wells 2023: Story So Far
Nearly all of the pre-tournament favourites remain firmly in contention for the first Masters 1000 event of the year, which is often affectionally known as the ‘Grand Slam in the West’ among players and keen observers.
The prestige of this tournament can not be underestimated, with outright winners often going on to place highly in the ATP rankings with 1000 points on offer, but it also provides ample opportunity for players to size each other up before the summer’s Grand Slam double-header; the French Open and Wimbledon.
2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev (8/5) headed to the desert as the clear favourite, and has backed up that status with impressive showings against Brandon Nakashima and Ilya Ivaska to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final with long-running rival Alexander Zverev, whom he has defeated in five of the last six encounters to level their overall ATP head-to-head record at 6-6.
This year’s draw puts him on a separate bracket to second-favourite and popular betting pick Carlos Alcaraz (3/1), which could set up only a second ever meeting on the tour between two of tennis‘ most physical competitors.

The Spaniard enjoyed a scintillating 2022, capping it off with a first ever Grand Slam at the US Open and taking his total ATP tour trophy haul to seven. He will be eager to add a third Masters 1000 title to his growing collection having claimed both the Miami and Madrid Open last year, but faces a tough final-eight opponent in Jack Draper, who defeated compatriot Andy Murray in the previous round.
Elsewhere, defending champion and California native Taylor Fritz (17/2) will be hoping to retain his crown, and has been dealt a favourable draw in the quarter-finals against Márton Fucsovics.
However, should he prevail, he will meet either third-favourite Jannik Sinner (13/2) or emerging talent Felix Auger Allissime (20/1) in the last four, and the former is primed and ready for a first ever Master 1000 title after showing his worth at the ABN AMRO Open final in Rotterdam last month, against Indian Wells favourite Medvedev.
