Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he would stay at the club if they were relegated for breaking Financial Fair Play regulations.

Following Everton’s recent 10-point deduction after they were charged for breaking Financial Fair Play regulations, speculation has been rife regarding City’s own charges.

At the beginning of the year City were charged by the Premier League with ‘numerous breaches’ of financial rules following a four-year investigation.

What Did Guardiola Say About His Future?

Speaking to the media before his team faces Liverpool at the weekend, Guardiola was asked what he would do if Manchester City were found guilty of breaking Financial Fair Play rules.

The Spaniard said: “I will not consider my future if we are in League One, I will be more likely to stay.”

In relation to Everton’s charges, he said: “I’m not going to say one word about Everton because I don’t know the reality of what happened. They are two completely different cases. I know people are saying why don’t City go to the Conference but let’s wait.

“You read it and we should be relegated of course, but nobody knows. All the people who say it don’t know exactly what happened. I haven’t read it all. But wait, what I said a month ago – if we’ve done something wrong we’ll be punished. After what will be done, I will be here, the case for Everton and I don’t know what happened but it’s a completely different one. That’s why you cannot compare it.”

With just one point separating the two teams at the moment, Guardiola’s City side faces Liverpool this weekend in what is being touted as an early-season title clash.
