With the end of the season nearing, the summer transfer rumours are beginning. One of the biggest stories yet again is set to be the future of Kylian Mbappé. No team would turn down the chance to sign the 25-year-old, but how would Mbappé fit into a new club? We’ve looked at how Mbappé would fit into clubs like Arsenal and Real Madrid.
The Mbappé transfer saga has been bubbling over the last couple of seasons, but the Frenchman has told PSG he’ll be leaving this summer. This news has restarted talk of who Mbappé’s next club will be.
We’ve taken an in-depth look at how Mbappé would fit into a new club, especially some of Europe’s biggest sides.
Mbappé and Real Madrid
During all the talk about Mbappé’s future, Real Madrid have been the front-runners to sign the attacker. The Spanish side have attempted to seal a deal for Mbappé in past summer windows, but have had no luck luring him away from Paris.
With Mbappé looking set to leave, Real will fancy their chances of signing the Frenchmen, given his admiration for the La Liga side. However, reports are suggesting the deal offered by Real isn’t as attractive as it was in the past.

Real Madrid are part way through their rebuild, with Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior leading the way. If they were to add Mbappé to their squad, it would certainly be the icing on the cake.
Currently, Real are playing with Rodrygo and Vinicius as two wider strikers, with Bellingham just behind the pair. This is in part due to their failure to replace Karim Benzema when he departed for Saudi Arabia. That vacant spot could easily be filled by Mbappé, creating another legendary front three for Real.
Mbappé and Arsenal
Before the news broke about Mbappé telling PSG he’d be leaving this summer, it was confirmed Mbappé would be interested in a move to Arsenal. His interest in the club is due to his desire to follow in the footsteps of one of his idols, Thierry Henry.

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have once again become a genuine title challenger. Many fans and pundits have said if they’re going to end their wait for a title, they need a recognised striker.
Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are their two strikers, with Kai Havertz used up top as well. However, Arteta doesn’t appear comfortable with any of these leading the line for Arsenal.
Arsenal looks like another club that have a spot ready and waiting for Mbappé this summer. The chance to follow in Henry’s footsteps by leading Arsenal to a trophy, as well as be in direct competition with Erling Haaland, could tempt Mbappé to England.
Mbappé and Liverpool
The Merseyside club have been mentioned alongside Real Madrid as one of the clubs Mbappé would be interested in joining. This interest was well before news Jürgen Klopp would be leaving was made public.
Mbappé has spoken positively about Liverpool in the past. The uncertainty over who’ll take over and what the next few years look like might be off-putting for him.
That uncertainty makes joining Liverpool a different prospect from Arsenal and Real Madrid. Whereas those two teams are two or three years into their current project, Klopp departing means a new project will be starting at Anfield this summer.
Mbappé would certainly suit their current style of fast counter-attacking football, but will this style be there under a new manager?
It’s understandable why Liverpool would be interested in Mbappé. Adding the French striker to their squad would bolster their attacking options, and be a replacement for the ageing Mo Salah.
Mbappé will want to know more about the next project at Liverpool and, importantly, who’ll be heading it, if he’s to join the Reds.
Mbappé and Man United
The three clubs mentioned before seem to be in the driving seat to sign Mbappé if a move is to happen this summer. Man United are one of the teams who are seen as outsiders to sign the attacker.
Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ acquisition of a 25% stake in Man United has eased concerns about the ownership at Old Trafford. One way to win fans over and show the rest of the world they mean business would be signing Mbappé.
With Erik ten Hag finally getting Rasmus Hojlund scoring, Man United’s need for a leading attacker has been eased. However, ten Hag is unlikely to turn down the opportunity to have a world-class talent like Mbappé in his squad.
Mbappé can play out wide if needed, potentially replacing a hit-and-miss Marcus Rashford. His adaptability on the front line makes him an attractive prospect for any team.
Mbappé and Barcelona
Another club watching on from afar during this transfer saga is Barcelona. Their public financial issues will prevent any deal from happening, but with Lewandowski coming to the end of his career, Mbappé could be a good replacement.
Barça are struggling in the league this season and are some way off Real in the battle for the title. If they were to pull off the signing of Mbappé, it could bring them back closer to their rivals.
