It’s every darts player’s dream to win the World Championship and those who do take home a substantial prize – but how much exactly does the winner earn in PDC World Darts Championship prize money?
How Much Does The Winner Of The PDC World Darts Championship Earn?
The PDC World Championship is nearing the end, with just two players remaining from the 96 that started out at Ally Pally last month. The World Darts Championship bring out all kinds of festivities, none more so than the famous arrows – a staple of the UK’s Christmas tradition filled with booze, fancy dress and laughter.
The winner of this year’s 2024 PDC World Darts Championship will take home an incredible £500,000 – the single biggest prize in the sport. Even the runner-up will pocket £200,000 – which will be the biggest purse in the career of both ‘Cool Hand’ and ‘The Nuke’.
Not only will the eventual champion become significantly richer, they also claim the famous Sid Waddell Trophy – handed to each winner of the competition since 1994. The PDC World Darts Championship prize money is extremely lucrative to say the least.
Darts is only increasing in popularity every year, especially with the younger generation, so we can expect the purse and prize money to continue to rise as time goes on.
Last year, Michael Smith claimed the lucrative prize as he beat Michael van Gerwen 7-4 in the final at Alexandra Palace.
