BANKER: 3:30 Exeter: GO TO WAR 11/10
Won a bumper at Uttoxeter this time last year and the Fergal O’Brien yard have taken their time with him since, with just one more run. That, however, came in the Grade 2 Aintree NH Flat Race in April, when running a fine 8th (of 20) in a hot event – beaten only 7 1/4 lengths. Is over hurdles for the first time today, but the O’Brien camp are sure to have schooled him well and the yard have a respectable 20% strike-rate with their hurdlers here at Exeter. Looks the class act in the field.
EACH-WAY: 2:30 Exeter: NEIGH BOTHA 6/1
The Oliver Greenhall and Josh Guerriero are in flying form at the moment with a 44% strike-rate and so a chance is taken on this 6 year-old. He showed improved form last time at Sedgefield to be third and is back off a pound lower mark here. The shorter trip at this stiffer track should also suit and jockey Craig Nichol has won on the horse in the past. Each-way value in an open-looking race.
LAY OF THE DAY: 6:00 Wolverhampton: INTOXICATA 9/4
This Ed Dunlop runner has just one win to her name from 10 starts and that came in the summer at Lingfield and off a 2lb lower mark. Yes, she’s been knocking at the door in recent runs but it’s still a worry she’s not been able to get another win on the board in her last six now. A wide draw in 10 also makes life hard and with 4 or 5 others in the race looking to have chances, she’s overlooked here tonight.
