Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing a surprise bid for Manchester United captain and England international Harry Maguire with his future in Manchester being uncertain.
Maguire signed for the Red Devils back in 2019 for £80m- a the record transfer for defender. Since then he has become captain at the club and has made 165 appearances, winning his first trophy at the club only a few weeks in ago in United’s Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle.
The England international has faced a lot of scrutiny during his time in Manchester, with his hefty price tag making expectations extremely high. However, since Erik ten Hag took over the 30-year-old has struggled to get into the side and Bruno Fernandes has made the captaincy his own.
Making only 10 appearances in the Premier League, Maguire has been a distant figure in the Manchester united squad. Causing transfer rumours to circulate as Aston Villa were reportedly close to signing the defender on loan in the January transfer window.

However, it’s a different club from the Midlands that are reportedly interested in the Man United captain, with Wolves keen on signing Maguire. Julen Lopetegui has started to turn things around, beating Spurs 1-0 in their last Premier League fixture and the signing of Maguire may be the next step.
Wolves typically sign players that are young and show tons of potential, Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes, and Pedro Neto are clear examples of that. But with defender Max Kilman being monitored by England’s top clubs, a move for an immediate replacement could be on the cards.
