1:50 – Coral Goodwood Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 2m4½f ITV: TYPEWRITER @ 8/1 with Paddy Power

The handicap stayers are in action in the opening on day four and some old faces that include the 2021 winner of this race Calling The Wind. However, this Richard Hughes runner is rated 9lbs higher now and will need to win carrying 9-12.

Hydroplane was also 6th in this race last year, but the interesting one is the Andrew Balding runner Typewriter. The number ‘4’ seems to be popular for this 4 year-old at the moment with a string of 4ths next to her name in recent runs, including last time out in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She gets in here off the same mark (94), while having got run out of the places last time over 2m5 1/2f, the slight drop back in trip here will be a big plus (2m 4 1/2f).

Jockey Harry Davies has also been booked to ride and he takes off a handy 3lbs and the horse has at least also tasted the Goodwood track in the past too with two previous spins here (4th and 6th).

A tough and competitive middle-distance handicap to end the day four action at Glorious Goodwood with the Ryan Moore-ridden Nader King and the Ralph Beckett-trained Balance Play two horses that will be popular in the betting.

Both are respected, but the call is to side with the James Fanshawe runner – Maso Bastie – who has only had four career runs. This well-bred Churchill gelding has won 50% of those four runs and with one of those coming in soft ground then any more rain should be fine.

His recent third at Goodwood was a tad disappointing as a beaten favourite but that came off a 2-month break at the end of June and would have brought him on again. Add in that the Fanshawe yard do well at Goodwood with their 3 year-olds – with a 40% strike-rate (2-from 4) and have also had a few winners in the last couple of weeks to suggest their horses are in good order.
