Fulham vs Norwich Preview
Meeting for the first time in competitive play since 2018, Norwich head to the English capital on Wednesday evening to take on Premier League outfit Fulham in the Carabao Cup third round at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers came out on top in their last clash over five years ago, where Stefan Johansen and Tom Cairney got on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win in the English Championship.
Of course, plenty has changed for both sides since then, and an entirely different prospect is expected this time around.
Norwich come into this one off the back of two successive defeats in the Championship, with their most recent defeat coming in the form of a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of newly-promoted side Plymouth at Home Park.
As for Fulham, they have just one defeat in their last five matches, and that was to treble-winning Manchester City. In the last round, Marco Silva’s side put up an impressive performances against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, who they eventually beat on penalties to advance to the competition’s third round.
Fulham vs Norwich Team News
Fulham Team News
Silva will likely rotate his side in order to give fringe players some more game time. However, a strong team is still expected to be fielded as Norwich are a well established Championship side that could seriously cause the Cottagers problems.
Tosin Adarabioyo, Adama Traore, Sasa Lukic and Kenny Tete are all expected to miss out through injury, while summer signings Alex Iwobi and Fode Ballo-Toure could be handed their first starts for the club.
Fulham Predicted Line-Up
Rodak; Castagne, Diop, Bassey, Ballo-Toure; Iwobi, Reed, Cairney; Decordova-Reid, Vinicius, Wilson
Norwich Team News
Like Silva, David Wagner will likely make changes to his lineup – but this is due to their heavy defeat by Plymouth in the league at the weekend.
One confirmed absentee for the German boss is Danny Batth, who is ineligible to represent the Canaries in the competition as he is cup-tied having already featured for Sunderland in the first round.
Norwich Predicted Line-Up
Long; Stacey, Duffy, Gibson, McCullum; Forshaw, Gibbs; Hernandez, Ui-jo, Placheta; Idah
