Fulham vs Aston Villa (1-2) Report: Ollie Watkins Continues Impressive Scoring Run

Aston Villa claimed an important three points at Craven Cottage to stay in the top four of the Premier League table thanks to yet another brace from talisman Ollie Watkins.

The England international boosted his goal tally for the campaign to 13,  which ranks fourth behind only Erling Haaland (16), Mohamed Salah (15) and Dominic Solanke (14).

Watkins opened the scoring after 23 minutes and doubled Villa’s lead with his second of the afternoon ten minutes into the second half against Fulham.

Rodrigo Muniz grabbed one back as a consolation for the hosts after 63 minutes but that was the end of the action as Unai Emery’s side held on to return to winning ways.

It hasn’t been the smoothest of rides for the Villans in recent weeks, who had recorded just one win in their last six outings prior to kick-off in West London on Saturday.

The schedule begins to ease up for the West Midlands outfit from here ahead of meetings with Nottingham Forest and Luton Town to follow, which should allow Villa bit of respite.

Champions League qualification is firmly in the club’s sights and Premier League betting sites price Villa’s chances of finishing in the top four at 7/4.

What Next For Fulham & Aston Villa?

Fulham will now look ahead to next weekend’s meeting with Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Cottagers haven’t won at the Theatre of Dreams since October 2003 and they’ll face a tough task to rewrite history against an in-form United outfit.

As mentioned above, Villa will welcome their upcoming fixture at Villa Park against Nottingham Forest – who recently snapped a four-game winless run in the league by beating West Ham 2-0.
