Although Fulham have little to play for as the season draws to a close, Marco Silva and his players will be eyeing a top-half finish in their first year since securing promotion back to the Premier League last term.

Despite losing out in a narrow 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday, their impressive showing was indicative of their showings this season.

Two key components in their success have been Tim Ream and Andreas Pereira, who they will have to replace for the remainder of the season after the pair were forced off over the weekend through injury.

The former has been a mainstay in the heart of defence, but a suspected broken arm means he will miss their final five fixtures.

As for Pereira, the former Manchester United midfielder was in visible discomfort as he was stretchered off with what many believe to be a broken bone. Manager Marco Silva told reporters in his Monday press conference that he has undergone an MRI scan to determine the severity, but went on to confirm that the injured duo will not feature again this term.

He said: “On Tim Ream, he has broken his arm and will be out until the end of the season. The situation of Andreas Pereira will be the same, he will not play anymore this season.

“We are waiting for more updates from the exams this morning, an MRI as well, and when we are going to be more sure about everything, we are going to give more feedback to you, but both are not going to play anymore this season.”

Pereira has been integral for Fulham this season, clocking in with 11 goal contributions – only target man Aleksandar Mitrovic has registered more.

Silva continued saying the pair will be sorely missed as the club see out the rest of the season, but opened the door for some of the fringe players to step up to the plate in their absence.

“They are going to be two big misses for us, definitely. These two players are so, so important for us so far this season,” he said.

“But the same time, it’s a chance for the others. These type of things can happen, and you have to be ready as a squad to answer in the best way you can.”
