Fulham have set an astronomical price tag of £90 million for Portuguese midfielder Palhinha, with West Ham interested in signing a Declan Rice replacement this summer.

It seems as if West Ham are about to lose their captain this summer, as Declan Rice is set for a departure to one of Europe’s elite clubs in the coming weeks.

However the Hammers have already identified a replacement for their £100 million man, with David Moyes reportedly interested in securing the talents of Fulham’s Joao Palhinha this summer.

Palhinha played 35 of Fulham’s 38 Premier League games last season and became an essential part of David Moyes’ side who managed to secure survival with just a few weeks left in the season.

Amid interest from West Ham, Fulham have set a £90 million price tag on their 27-year-old maestro  – which is the same price the Hammers have set on Rice’s head.

Fulham signed Palhinha from Sporting for just £20 million last summer, but they believe they can more than quadruple their investment with West Ham desperate to find a Rice replacement.

Arsenal had their second bid of £75m + £15m in add-ons rejected by West Ham this week, as they believe the add-ons would be an unrealistic achievement.

Manchester City are expected to enter the race to sign Rice later this week, so the Hammers can be confident of holding out for the £100m they have asked for their captain.

With an extraordinary fee coming in for Rice this summer, West Ham will certainly have the money to sign Palhinha from Fulham, it will just be a matter of whether they want to pay the £90m for the player.
