Saturday 26th August Frankie Dettori York Ebor Festival Rides

2:25pm – Sky Bet Melrose Stakes Heritage Handicap 1m6f ITV: DAVIDEO @ 15/2

The first of Frankie Dettori’s York rides on Saturday see him partner up with last months handicap winner at Newmarket – DAVIDEO – in the Melrose Stakes.

Came last in the King George at Royal Ascot back in June, but bounced back last time out with that win at Newmarket. Faces a 3lb rise from last time out and potentially has each-way claims here for Dettori. Will have to run a huge race if he is to win this 1m6f Class 2 Handicap.

Davideo is probably Dettori’s least likely chance of winner on Saturday at York, but you never know with the popular Italian jockey. He is more than capable of pulling a win out of his hat against all odds. Will need a big run to beat the likes of Lordship, Vaguely Royal and Alhambra Palace.

3:00pm – Sky Bet City of York Stakes Group 2 7f ITV: KINROSS @ 6/4

KINROSS is Frankie’s second ride on Day 4 of the Ebor Festival, and he teams up with trainer Ralph Beckett in the City of York Stakes as the outright favourite with the best horse racing betting sites.

This six-year-old gelding has been almightily impressive of late, winning at Glorious Goodwood last time out. He is also a course and distance winner having won this race 12 months ago and aims to make it back-to-back triumphs under ‘The Pocket Italian’ in this Group 2, Class 1 race.

Runs off the same weight (9st 8lbs) as last year, so can clearly cope well around this track off that weight. Will take some beating, that is for sure. The likes of Sacred and Isaac Shelby (who was a close second to Kinross last time out at Goodwood) could be Kinross’ biggest challengers.

Definitely Frankie Dettori‘s biggest chance of a winner on Saturday at the York Ebor Festival.

3:35pm – Sky Bet Ebor Heritage Handicap 1m6f ITV: ABSURDE @ 6/1

The Ebor Handicap is the most valuable flat handicap in Europe with £300,000 on offer to the winner. This year, Frankie Dettori aims to go back-to-back with the William Mullins-trained ABSURDE on his last ever running of the featured York race.

12 months ago we saw ‘The Pocket Italian’ at his brilliant best when winning on Godolphin’s Trawlerman – his second win in the York race having previously won it in 2012 with Willing Foe – another for the ‘boys in blue’.

This year we can expect another ultra-competitive field to line-up for the 1m6f race, with the John & Thady Gosden entry Sweet William, who has won his last three, one of the big fancies in the betting with the best horse racing betting apps.

Absurde has every chance under the ride of Dettori, who will be looking to sign off in style with a third win in this race and second in as many years.

Could it be a fitting finish for Frankie Dettori on his last ever ride at the York Ebor Festival?
