Frankie Dettori, who is on his farewell season, is back in the UK after a stint riding around the world with three booked rides at Newmarket today.
Frankie Dettori Rides Three Horses at Newmarket On Tuesday
The pocket Italian Frankie Dettori will be riding this season for the last time after he announced last year this will be his final campaign in the saddle, but is back at HQ this week.
Dettori has been riding around the globe in recent months – including in the Dubai World Cup – and in California, but he’s back riding in his home town Newmarket this midweek at their three-day Craven Meeting.
On the opening day (Tuesday) of the meeting Frankie has three booked rides – all for trainer John and Thady Gosden.
If you’re feeling lucky, you could even put the three Frankie rides in a 50/1+ treble with Paddy Power.

3.00 Newmarket: Unforgotten @ 9/2
Frankie is back riding for his old employers Godolphin here. This 5 year-old is trained by John Gosden and will head here fit from having had three runs already this year. He’s won two of those on the AW at Lingfield in February and was last seen running a close second in the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton last month. He’s lightly-raced for a 5 year-old (6 runs), but is also yet to finish out of the first two (3 wins, 3 seconds). This will also be his first run on the turf.
3.35 Newmarket: Reach For The Moon @ 5/1
Dettori gets the leg-up for a royal runner here as he rides Reach For The Moon for The King. This is also another John Gosden runner and despite flopping last time in France has lost his tackle over the winter, having been gelded. Prior to that last outing he’d finished in the top two each time – winning twice, with his biggest success to date in the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown. This will be his first run at Newmarket, while Frankie record on the horse reads well 2-1-1-2-2-2.
4.10 Newmarket: Convey @ 8/13
The final Frankie ride today at Newmarket is another Gosden entry and the lightest-raced of the trio, plus his best chance of getting a winner. This well-bred Frankel colt has only been seen on the track once and that came at Southwell back in April. He was run into second that day – beaten just a neck – but the first two pulled well clear of the third that day and the experience is sure to have brought him on. The switch to the turf will suit and it will be no shock to see him leave that opening run behind in a race the Gosden camp has won three times since 2014 (two with Frankie riding).
