Lyon are considering former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard as a replacement for Laurent Blanc following his departure earlier on this week.

Frank Lampard On Lyon Shortlist To Replace Blanc

The French side have had a terrible start to the season, and they sit bottom of Ligue 1 with just one point after the first four games.

Lyon lost 4-1 to PSG in their final game before the international break, which led to fan protests inside the stadium at full-time, and that seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for Blanc.

He left the club by mutual consent earlier this week, but it is believed that the club have been searching for replacements before he officially departed.

Reports emerged last week that another former Chelsea manager in Graham Potter turned down the job, and now Lyon have turned their attention to Frank Lampard.

It is fair to say Lampard did not have a great time in the dugout last season, beginning the campaign with Everton before being sacked in January.

He then returned to Chelsea for a second spell, this time as interim manager following Potter’s axing. However, that went no better and he only managed to pick up one win in 11 matches, losing eight times in the process.

Lyon owner John Textor is also a minority owner of Crystal Palace, and he is said to be a big fan of Lampard. The 45-year-old has previously been linked to the Eagles job in recent years.

Another name mentioned on the Lyon shortlist is former AC Milan and Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso, who has been out of work since January after leaving La Liga side Valencia.
