Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg. In this edition of the weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best three players for your FPL team – along with one juicy differential.

Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 1% of FPL managers in each of the last nine seasons – including a best finish of 836th. Let’s cook!

Expect FPL Points From Foden and De Bruyne on Gameweek 22

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City £10.5m (Fixture: Burnley, Home)

Kevin De Bruyne has been an unstoppable force for many years in the Premier League – but a long-term injury has hampered him so far this season. This all changed following his explosive return off the bench away to Newcastle – which has already convinced around one million FPL managers to bring him in ahead of Gameweek 22.

Man City will benefit as a team offensively with King Kev returning (more on one of his team mates later). Therefore, I see De Bruyne creating lots of chances for his in-form teammates to finish off, as well as having plenty of chances to score himself.

Facing a Burnley side who are conceding lots of goals, Man City will be looking to build upon their impressive attacking displays of late – especially with arguably the best midfielder in the world now back from injury.

Phil Foden – Manchester City £8m (Fixture: Burnley, Home)

Sticking with Man City, next up is the mercurial Phil Foden.

It’s sometimes difficult to choose the right City attacker (apart from a fit and firing Erling Haaland of course) but this season the Englishman has five goals and six assists in 18 Premier League starts – making him one of the most reliable Man City assets this season, especially in recent Gameweeks (four attacking returns in the least four games).

With Haaland unlikely to play 90 minutes, this should see Foden all but guaranteed to play the vast majority of the game vs Burnley. Hopefully Foden can remain central – in the number 10 role just behind the striker – where he has done most of his damage this season.
However, a slight word of warning, the returning De Bruyne could see Foden operating from the right hand side where he isn’t as effective in terms of goals and assists.

Richarlison – Tottenham £7m  (Fixture: Brentford, Home)

Listed as a midfielder in FPL – but playing as Spurs’ number nine – Richarlison looks primed for points in Gameweek 22. He has six goals in his last six games ever since he was deployed as a centre forward in Gameweek 16 onwards and his underlying numbers (expected goals and expected assists) are solid too, meaning his returns should be sustainable.

With Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham playing a very attacking style of football, it’s likely there will be plenty of goals when Spurs play – even more so when they come up against a poor defence like Brentford who have lost five of their last six games, conceding 14 goals in that time.

Kudus Should Put AFCON Misery Behind Him

Differential

Mohammed Kudus – West Ham £6.8m (Fixture: Bournemouth, Home)

A tasty fixture for West Ham makes Mohammed Kudus an ideal differential punt this Gameweek.

Owned by less than 4% of managers, Kudus has had a great season so far with five goals and three assists in his 10 Premier League starts. He’s settled into life in East London very well I think it’s fair to say.

West Ham will be heavily reliant upon the likes of our boy Kudus – as well as Jarrod Bowen – to provide the attacking returns as they are their main two goal threats. It’s always nice in FPL to have one of the main men in your FPL team as they often perform better than a bit-part player from a bigger club.

The Ghanaian should be back for West Ham after the national team went crashing out of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). His compatriot Antoine Semenyo was on the bench for Bournemouth in their FA Cup game on January 25th – so it’s safe to assume that Kudus will return for West Ham too.

Note: Gameweek 22 deadline closes Tuesday 30th January 6pm
