Feyenoord vs Celtic Preview

Celtic return to Champions League action in 2023/24 with a trip to Rotterdam to face off against Dutch champions Feyenoord at De Kuip on Tuesday evening.

They’ll be hoping for a better showing than last year, having finished rock bottom of their group without winning a game – seeing them knocked out of Europe altogether.

Both sides come into the clash with an undefeated record in the league, Feyenoord with three wins and two draws, whilst Celtic boast a record of four wins and one draw.

The Dutch outfit have won their previous three matches in the league, and have scored a whopping 17 goals in those three fixtures.

Celtic meanwhile, have won their previous two league outings, 3-0 against Dundee last time out, and prior to that a 1-0 victory over Rangers in the Old Firm derby.

The Dutch champions have been in incredible form in front of goal this month, with 11 goals from just two matches, but they’ll have to make do without star striker Santiago Gimenez who is suspended after being dismissed against Roma in the Europa League last season.

Back up striker Ayase Ueda is also injured, with Bart Nieuwkoop a doubt, whilst Lutsharel Geertruida returns to the fold after missing the Netherlands’ match against Ireland through injury.

Feyenoord Predicted Line-Up

Wellenreuther; Geertruida, Trauner, Hancko, Hartman; Timber, Wieffer; Minteh, Stengs, Ivanusec; Paixao

Celtic Team News

Reo Hatate returned to the Celtic squad at the weekend after recovering from a calf issue, and made a 30 minute appearance from the bench, so he could return to the starting XI on Tuesday.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Marco Tilio have returned to training, but are unlikely to feature in Rotterdam, whilst Liel Abada faces several months on the sidelines due to a thigh issue.

Nat Phillips was substituted off at half-time through injury against Dundee at the weekend after making his debut, and is unlikely to play a part against Feyenoord.

Celtic Predicted Line-Up

Hart; Johnston, Lagerkielke, Scales, Taylor; O’Riley, McGregor, Turnbull; Hatate, Furuhashi; Maeda
