Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Kalidou Koulibaly will be departing Chelsea this summer after just one season in England, with the defender’s contract at Al Hilal set to be signed later this week.

Koulibaly is the latest Chelsea star to make the move to Saudi Arabia, after teammates Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy also both agreed deals to make the move this summer.

The Senegalese defender already agreed personal terms with Al Hilal and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal is now just a matter of signing contracts.

Koulibaly spent just one season in the Premier League, with the defender playing 23 games during what was a difficult campaign for the Blues.

Al Hilal will pay Chelsea around £25m for their 32-year-old defender, who will join former Premier League star Ruben Neves in making the switch to Saudi Arabia this year.

It looks like the Chelsea clear-out isn’t finished yet either, as Koulibaly has attempted to persuade Romelu Lukaku to accept an offer worth around £77m from Saudi club Al Hilal.

Lukaku is reportedly planning on turning down the move however, with the Belgian keen to continue his career in Europe – hopefully for Inter Milan.

With transfers to Saudi Arabia becoming more and more popular this summer, it would be no surprise to see more Premier League stars make the switch before next season starts.
