Former Chelsea captain Frank Leboeuf has revealed who Jose Mourinho wants to manage next following the Portuguese coach’s AS Roma dismissal.

Mourinho At Roma

Jose Mourinho received his marching orders from AS Roma on Tuesday with the club sat 9th in the Serie A table, 22 points adrift of league leaders Inter Milan.

Despite leading Roma to their first European trophy in six decades in the form of the 2022 UEFA Conference League title, the Giallorossi sacked the Portuguese coach to replace him with club legend Daniele De Rossi.

A teary-eyed Mourinho was spotted leaving the Italian club’s training ground on Tuesday evening as fans gave him an emotional send-off.

In response, the two-time Champions League winner sent an emotional goodbye message to the fans, which translates to “Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sadness, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity.”

Leboeuf On Mourinho’s Next Job After Roma

Frank Leboeuf, who made 204 appearances for Mourinho’s former club Chelsea, has revealed who the Portuguese coach would like to manage next.

Speaking to ESPN, the former defender said: “I remember interviewing Mr Mourinho when he was at Madrid or Chelsea when he came over to Los Angeles.

“He admitted that the last thing he would love to do in his coaching career would be to get the Portuguese national team job. I think that’s going to be his goal.

“It’s tricky right now with Roberto [Martinez] but I really think he can be patient and see how it goes during the Euros and then maybe jump into the seat if he has the chance to.”

Portugal have been in electric form since Martinez took over from Fernando Santos, winning all 10 of their Euro 2024 qualifiers, scoring 36 goals and conceding just 2.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard can translate this form into tournament success after an underwhelming six years managing Belgium’s “Golden Generation”.

Knowing Mourinho, he’ll be hoping for a catastrophic display from the Seleccao.
