Everton have seen their chances of relegation increase after a 1-1 draw to Wolverhampton Wanderers, as the Toffee’s drop to within two points of the bottom three.

Match Events

  • Everton started superbly at Molineux, with Idriss Gueye coming close for Sean Dyche’s side.
  • Howver, it was Wolves who struck first, as Adama Traore ran the length of the pitch and his rebounded effort fell to Hwang Hee-Chan who could not miss.
  • Everton failed to find an equaliser in the first half and went into the break a goal down.
  • Neither side managed to create any danger in the opening stages of the first half, despite Everton’s desire for a leveller.
  • It took until the tenth minute of additional time, but the Toffee’s were rewarded for their efforts, as Yerry Mina secured a point for the visitors.

Can Everton Avoid Relegation?

The Toffee’s have endured a whirlwind season, parting ways with Frank Lampard at the start of 2023 after a run of poor results.

His replacement, Sean Dyche, has failed to turn things around at Goodison Park, but has shown clear signs of improvement. Wins over Arsenal and Brighton have shown this increase in performance, however it has not been enough to confirm Premier League safety.

Dyche’s side now sit two points above the bottom three, with Leeds having the chance to overtake as they take on West Ham tomorrow afternoon.

The relegation battle will come to a close on the final day of the season, as Everton take on Bournemouth in a game they simply have to win.
