Evan Ferguson has signed a new long-term deal with Brighton & Hove Albion which keeps him on the south coast until June 2029.

The 19-year-old has scored 10 Premier League goals in 2023, with five of them coming in 11 appearances for Brighton this season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s Wonderkid

Naturally, Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi was delighted to tie his young prodigy down on a new long-term deal: “Evan deserves this new contract and he has a very big future ahead of him,” the Italian said.

Ferguson has already netted a Premier League hat-trick this season as Brighton swept aside Newcastle 3-1 in September, which saw the forward’s stock and popularity rise once again. A strong second-half to the campaign beckons and everyone associated with Brighton will be eager to see how Ferguson continues to develop.

How Far Can Evan Ferguson Go?

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with Ferguson throughout 2023 which is a testament to how far he has come in such a short space of time. It’s no secret that Brighton do often cash in on their most prized assets and if Ferguson continues to impress, the Seagulls can expect a flurry of inquiries.

The Irish international has eight caps and three goals to his name already for Stephen Kenny’s side so it’s not just domestically where Ferguson has shone. Many will agree that the sky is the limit for Ferguson and it would be no surprise at all to see him reach the very top one day.

What’s Next For Evan Ferguson?

After their brilliant 2-0 away win at Ajax in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, Brighton and Ferguson entertain struggling Sheffield United at the AMEX Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ferguson was only gifted 25 minutes in the Dutch capital but after penning his new long term deal, he’ll be eager to blunt the Blades in front of the Brighton faithful this weekend before he joins up with the international squad.
