Manchester United forward Antony has been given the all clear to return to training after denying the abuse allegations made against him in a voluntary interview he had with the police. The investigation is still ongoing.

In his press conference, Erik Ten Hag spoke on both the Antony and Jadon Sancho situations. Ten Hag on Antony: “On Saturday, he will be back in training, so I have to see, but I think, yeah [he’s fit].

Manchester United let Mason Greenwood go on loan to Getafe after abuse allegations were made against him. If Antony does play again for the club, it’ll be a controversial one.

Sancho was recently banned from using first team facilities in an ongoing public feud with Ten Hag. However, he was reluctant to talk about it this time.

He said: “Many of you ask me this so often, these questions, and I have said everything. I said everything.”

Many young players have come up in the ranks recently for the Reds and Ten Hag is a big believer in developing young talent within the club to help through tough situations:

He said: “You’ve seen already, when you develop players you see the progress and that can help you in tough situations, it’s good for the club to develop such players and to get them into professional football and professional top football.

“I like to develop young players but the mentality has to be right and every time you have to prove it and every occasion in training and show it in the games.”

Ten Hag spoke on the gruelling fixture schedule and the threat he expects from Crystal Palace at the weekend:

He said: “We already expanded the squad this season because we made the reason clear. We had a World Cup in the middle of the season, we had a longer season, we had to play a longer season as well, with FA Cup. A shorter break.

“Every time the schedule is expanding, the load on the players is too much, it’s such a great overload. Many colleagues of mine have pointed to that and I have pointed to that as well. But it keeps going. We keep expanding the schedule.

“Anywhere, it won’t stop. Players can’t deal any more with this overload and I think that’s what you say in this squad at the moment.”

Ten Hag on Crystal Palace: “Definitely, both sides will be different but we got belief from it [Tuesday’s win]. “I know the opponent (Crystal Palace) is looking for revenge, clear, and that will be their view.”
