The Laurent Pokou Stadium plays host to an Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 faceoff between Group B runners-up Egypt and Group F runners-up DR Congo on Sunday evening, with the Mohamed Salah notably missing out for the Egyptians.
Incredibly, both sides are winless, but also unbeaten in the competition after drawing every single group stage match. Egypt played out 2-2 draws in all three of their ties against Mozambique, Ghana and Cape Verde, meanwhile DR Congo drew 1-1 with Zambia and Morocco, as well as 0-0 with Tanzania.
Rui Vitoria’s Egyptian side are now unbeaten in eight straight matches across all competitions, dating back to mid-October, while the Congolese are winless in five. Their last win came in mid-November in the form of a 2-0 triumph over Mauritania in World Championship Qualifying.
The pair last met in the group stage of the 2019 edition of the tournament, which was hosted in Egypt. Facing off in Cairo, Mohamed Salah and Ahmed Elmohamady got the all important goals as the Pharaohs topped their group, before exiting the competition at the hands of South Africa in the last-16.

The Egyptians remain without their star man Salah of course, who has returned to Liverpool for treatment on a hamstring injury in the hopes that he’ll be able to return to the Ivory Coast for the semi-finals.
First-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy is also ruled out of the last-16 matchup against the Congo after being forced off through injury against Cape Verde, which will likely see Mohamed Abou Gabal line-up between the sticks.
Emam Mashour is also ruled out after the midfielder suffered a concussion in training in midweek.
