EFL Cup Head-To-Head Stats and Best Bets: 10th January – 11th January 2023
Four EFL Quarter-final matches to look forward to this midweek (Tues/Weds) as the eight remaining sides look to move one step closer to a date a Wembley on Sunday February 26th.
On Tuesday, League One Charlton Athletic will be looking for the big EFL Cup upset as they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, but with the Red Devils having won their last 10 matches against Charlton then going to be a tough evening for the Londoners. Man Utd to keep a clean sheet @ 4/5 with 10bet gets the verdict here.
The other Tuesday EFL sees Newcastle United, who were dumped out of the FA Cup at the weekend by Sheff Weds, hosting Leicester City. The sides have already met in the Premier League this season, with The Magpies winning that easily 3-0 and have in fact also won 3 of their last 4 against the Foxes. More of the same is expected here with Newcastle @ 5/8 with 10bet the pick.
Wednesday’s first EFL quarter-final match has Wolverhampton Wanderers making the trip to Nottingham to face Forest. The teams clashed in the league back in October, which saw Wolves win 1-0 at home. Wolves have also won 4 of their last 6 vs Forest ‘to nil’, so this might appeal, but we’ve also had 6 of the last 8 clashes go Under 2.5 Goals so this edges it @ 4/6 with 10bet.
The final League Cup quarter-final will be between Southampton and Manchester City on Wednesday. City are the outright EFL Cup favourites @ 4/5 with 10bet and having won this competition four times in the last five seasons will be all the rage to go all the way again. City need just one more EFL Cup Final win to level Liverpool on 9 all-time League Cup successes and after thumping Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday come into the game flying high.
However, City are a bit short in the match betting @ 1/4 with 10bet, so why not go for OVER 3.5 GOALS @ 23/20 – a bet that’s pad out in 3 of the last 5 clashes between Southampton and City, including in the league this season when Pep’s side won 4-0.
