Manchester United’s second goal in their 2-0 Carabao Cup win had originally gone down as a Sven Botman own goal. However, having since reviewed the strike, the EFL have confirmed Marcus Rashford will now be awarded the goal.

Marcus Rashford Carabao Cup Goal Means He’s Scored In EVERY Round This Season

Manchester United saw off Newcastle 2-0 in Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final after goals from Casemiro and an own goal from Sven Botman.

The first half goals, however, caused a bit on controversy.

Not Casemiro’s header, but the Botman OG, which came after a wicked deflection off a Marcus Rashford strike (watch below).

Rashford’s on target effort was clearly seen hitting Botman’s leg and looping over stand-in Toon keeper Loris Karius. But after the match the Red Devil in-form number 10 said he’d be claiming it anyway. And, after a review by the EFL, this has now been confirmed with the effort looking to be goal-bound anyway.

The amendment also means Rashford kept up his record of scoring in EVERY round of the Carabao Cup this season. While the England man has now netted 17 goals in this last 19 matches and remains on course to score 30+ goals this term.

Next Up for Man United Is the FA Cup This Midweek

Manchester United will be hoping to their recent cup success into the FA Cup this week. Erik ten Hag’s men face a 5th round tie at home to West Ham on Wednesday.

United are @ 7/2 with Virgin Bet to add the FA Cup to their Carabao Cup success as they hunt their thirteenth win in the famous English cup competition.
