The latest Arsenal injury update doing the rounds ahead of the weekend sees Eddie Nketiah continue his rehabilitation, and after being spotted in training, it appears the Gunners marksman is edging closer to a return.

The 23-year-old has been absent for over a month after last featuring in Arsenal’s 4-0 drubbing of Everton at the beginning of March. After five games on the sidelines, his attendance in first team training earlier this week will provide Mikel Arteta with some much needed extra firepower in their final push for the title.

Fortunately for the league leaders, Gabriel Jesus’ return to the starting line-up coincided with Nketiah’s latest injury setback, and although the Brazilian is more than likely to feature heavily between now and the end of the season, the latter has proven an invaluable match-winner on several occasions this term.

It is unclear whether he will be match-fit for this weekend’s hop across London to face West Ham, but a return to training is a welcomed boost for Arsenal, who struggled to impose themselves further up the field against Liverpool last time out.

Elsewhere, William Saliba’s fitness remains a mystery after sustaining a nasty back injury against Sporting Lisbon last month, so Rob Holding is likely to deputise in his stead once more.

January signing Jakub Kiwior is yet to start a Premier League fixture having so far played a total 14 minutes, but his cameo in the dying embers of the draw against Liverpool may be an indicator that Arteta is ready to give the Polish centre-back a chance.

The Gunners will need to muster the strength to find a victory on Sunday after being knocked back in their pursuit of the Premier League title away at Anfield, particularly with Manchester City able to move within three points with victory at relegation-threatened Leicester on Saturday.
