Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said he has big plans for AJ in 2023, including a mega-fight with Tyson Fury in a bid to revamp his career.

Joshua’s career has took a slight hit in the past couple of years, with the 33-year-old not winning a fight since he knocked out Kubrat Pulev in 2020.

He’s since suffered back to back losses against Oleksandr Usyk, who Tyson Fury will reportedly face this year too.

Joshua, the former two-time heavyweight champion is also without a permanent trainer after splitting with long-time coach Rob McCracken, and since has had Robert Garcia as a temporary replacement, and is on the search for a new coach.

Everybody knows the potential that Joshua has, and there’s still a chance he can be as good as he was back when he was a little younger.

Hearn has been speaking on the DAZN boxing show: “The plan now is to rebuild him to become a three-time heavyweight world champion.

“It’s all very well being brave, listening to Twitter, going out and fighting Deontay Wilder (next). But there has to be a plan, a smart plan.

“A smart plan is he wants to return against a top 15 guy in a credible fight and return in the summer against probably Dillian Whyte.

“And then move forward against Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury in a mega-fight in the ultimate 2023.

“To me, the key here is to see him box three times this year.”
